Day Five

When we got to the work site today, there was plenty to do. We were able to start painting the outside wall right away. Today we really felt like we were making good connections with the Jamaicans, taking pictures, exchanging addresses, sharing music and lots of laughter. Scott agreed to have his hair braided by one of the ladies…he was such a good sport. (Ask him how hard she pulled and how much it hurt!)

Today’s lunch was prepared by the Jamaican crew - curried chicken and rice. We also got to taste Star Apples and Happles, a gift from Simone, one of the young ladies who attends Bethel. Afterward, we put a second coat on the front wall and did some major cleaning on the inside of the church getting it ready for Sunday morning worship.

Yesterday, Ellie led evening devotions about Mary and Martha, work and worship. Stella led tonight’s devotions, looking forward to the next mission.

It was the best day yet.

We are all looking forward to a day in Ocho Rios tomorrow…shopping and the beach will feel so good!
